Self-hosted Email Marketing Setup

After running campaigns to the quiz page for my coaching class, I used email marketing to guide the generated leads through a personalized journey that converted them into students.

This project outlines the processes I took to set up a robust, self-hosted email marketing server to nurture the leads into clients, and to foster lasting connections between I and prospective students.

I categorized the sequential flow of this project from click to conversion into Strategy and Setup, Implementation and Execution and Monitoring and Optimization, with each phase contributing to the overall success of the project.

Strategy and Setup:

My primary challenge was guiding leads through a personalized journey, and converting them into students for my digital training school. While my goal was solely to increase conversion using emails.


Understanding the Audience


Leveraging data insights, I crafted detailed buyer personas to understand the unique needs and preferences of potential students and clients.

Setting My Goals


My primary goal was simple: boost student enrollment by 20%, coupled with enhancing engagement and reducing dropout rates as secondary targets.

Email Design and Engineering


Every email was a canvas. I applied responsive designs, tested color schemes, and tweaked layouts to ensure an aesthetic and engaging visual experience.

Choosing My Server


I opted for a self-hosted solution for greater control over data. AWS SES became the powerhouse for its impeccable delivery rates and scalability.

Implementation and Execution

My quiz already divided the leads into based for me to further segment them based on their skills level, occupation, etc,. and that made sending tailored emails to them easy.

Purposeful Emails


My campaigns weren’t just a sequence of emails but meaningful conversations. Each of them were meticulously designed for the different stages of the campaign, and were well-timed with my calendar.
